One of the better tools I found along the way was called rsm2obj which stands for RuneScape Model to Object. Again most tools were not operating correctly, and even when tools worked I was getting lots of model conversion errors. After trying a large number of tools, I was left frustrated. I also found a variety of code, specifically Java classes, which were helpers to load the OSRS model file format. However, along the way, I did find a variety of posts and comments about different tools and model conversion methods. I searched far and wide to find more information about the model file format used in OSRS but did not have much luck finding reliable information. dat files, which were comprised of binary data. Most of the model extraction tools I tried resulted in the extraction of. This leads to the next step of converting the unknown file format. dat files which are an unknown file format. However, one major issue with this tool is that the models are exported as. On a recent extraction of models using OpenRS on the OSRS cache resulted in over 67,000 models being extracted. Specifically, there is a subsection in the post called Extracting Models which outlines how to extract an item, inventory, NPC and object models. I recently wrote an article called OpenRS Tutorial - Compiling and Using the OpenRS Cache Tools. I ran these tools in an isolated virtual machine, because who knows what malicious code was included! Anyway, I finally found a good project on GitHub called OpenRS which had the support to extract models. In addition, most the tools were not open source, instead, they were distributed in a single binary, which resulted in the inability to verify or extend the tool. To further the problem, the documentation was severely limited (read: non-existent). Many tools I tried along the way were pretty bad! They either did not support the OSRS cache structure or just crashed with no descriptive error messages. This was far from a simple process, and I encountered a variety of problems. There we also many tools that claimed to extract, or extract and convert models. There were so many tools available to parse the OSRS cache and extract different types of information and data. So where exactly is this data - the OSRS cache! This process proved a little more challenging than I initially expected. This may seem obvious, but the first step to getting a 3D model is to actually extract the model from the game. In a future post, I will embark on printing a 3D model and hopefully get to the point of creating a 3D model of my in-game character. This post discusses how I extracted 3D models from the OSRS cache, converted the files, and opened them in Blender. It suddenly came to me that I could have probably skipped the step of designing my own dwarf cannon in Blender, and simply try to load the 3D model from the game. I got up to the animation stage and then lost enthusiasm! Behold my creation! My crowning glory was a dwarf cannon I modeled from scratch in Blender. I started messing around with Blender to edit videos, then got the hang of some basic 3D modeling techniques. I am by no means an expert in either… and, to be honest, I have minimal experience. Writing a Simple Model Extraction and Conversion Toolįor a while, I have been interested in 3D modeling and 3D printing. Please do not use this information for nefarious purposes, and treat OSRS content with the love and respect it deserves! For example, please do not extract models, 3D print them and then sell them for monetary gain.īelow is an example of the infamous TzTok-Jad that has been extracted, converted and opened in Blender. One caveat, the models are (of course) proprietary and owned by Jagex - this documentation is purely an educational exercise. From here, you can really do anything with the models… including 3D printing your favorite boss, or rigging and defining a new animation to make an NPC or object do something interesting! This post discusses and outlines how to extract 3D models from the OSRS cache, then convert the extracted models to a different file format to allow you to open the model files in common tools, such as Blender. ![]()

![]() ![]() It is essentially a spin-off from an established dine-in restaurant, delivering new meals under the name brand and using the same kitchen. The hidden ghost kitchen is a little tricky. Restaurants like Chipotle have opened delivery-only locations run by ghost kitchens in order to spread their brand to towns without a local branch of the chain already in place. These ghost kitchens are owned by big restaurant chains, typically fast food. This company buys up real estate and constructs kitchens for multiple restaurants to use in connection with their delivery service. The former CEO of Uber, Travis Kalanick, has opened a prime example of this: CloudKitchens. The chefs will be specific to their restaurants, but the delivery drivers may work for the overall space. This space could be a warehouse or industrial kitchen, occasionally rented out to the businesses. ![]() In this type of ghost kitchen, multiple restaurants use the same rented space and operate in tandem. The Rented Commissary Kitchen, or “Multi-Kitchen” ![]() The differences between them may seem slight, but they are important distinctions. However, there are multiple types of ghost kitchens. Types of Ghost KitchensĪs previously mentioned, all ghost kitchens share the same general premise of functioning solely to prepare orders for delivery. Once the question, “what are ghost kitchens?” has been answered, the next step is reviewing the different types of ghost kitchens and how they function. Ghost kitchens are here to stay, at least as long as delivery and takeout remain popular. Ghost kitchens have seen an increase during the COVID-19 pandemic, which presented many restaurants with plummeting in-person sales but spiked delivery tenfold. It’s been found that delivery-only restaurants go back to at least 2013, even if they did not enter the public notice until recently. There are different types of ghost kitchens, but they all share the same general layout and delivery centered model. Cooks will prepare orders and drivers will deliver them directly, with little to no paying customers actually entering the premises. Ghost kitchens are literal kitchens with a very slight physical presence, hence the nickname. There are no wait staff, no dining area, and no reservations available. In essence, they are kitchens for a restaurant that offers delivery service exclusively. We must answer this question first, as well as the question: how do ghost kitchens work? Ghost kitchens are also known as dark kitchens or delivery-only kitchens. The concept of ghost kitchens vs c-stores is something that must be reconciled, as it would appear they are here to stay! What is a Ghost Kitchen? Ghost kitchens present a new future for food and delivery services, which is an area of concern for many c-stores. What are ghost kitchens? If you’ve never heard this term, that means they are doing their job. Restaurants and big chains are well aware of this trend and looking to capitalize on it with a new method: ghost kitchens. In fact, it is estimated that 60% of American consumers order delivery at least once a week. N this day and age, delivery is king! Take-out and delivery are aspects of food service that are only growing. ![]() ![]() ![]() Lets you join servers that have not upgraded yet.Īfter you have followed the steps below to install the patch you will haveĭoom 3 1.3 in "C:\Program Files\Doom 3 1.3.0"ĭoom 3 1.3.1 in "C:\Program Files\Doom 3" The copy to "C:\Program Files\Doom 3 1.3.0". If I were a betting man I’d place the date around September 30, the game’s 20 th anniversary. We’ll know soon enough though, as Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is due to release this fall. But Age of Empires II feels a bit rough by modern standards, and while it’ll take a few runs through the Joan of Arc campaign for me to know how I feel about all these changes, my gut tells me they’re for the better. Nothing here is essential per se, especially if you simply want to relive your memories from 1999. Microsoft’s going to give you $5 off the $20 list price if you do choose to purchase the Definitive Edition, but you don’t need to. If you own the HD Edition? Sure, there’s certainly no need to upgrade. It’s one hell of a package, and that’s before getting into the native 4K and ultrawide support, the improved destruction animations (especially impressive when you demolish a castle), and the improved networking back-end that’s being taken directly from Relic’s work on Age of Empires IV and integrated into Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. For reference, there were 18 civilizations and 9 campaigns between the original Age of Kings and The Conquerors releases. Titled “The Last Khans,” this will be the fourth expansion since 2013’s HD Edition re-release and will bring the full game to a total of 35 civilizations and 27 campaigns. Of course there’s a full-scale expansion included in the Definitive Edition as well. This knowledge is attained by trial-and-error, but it doesn’t have to be and I’ll be curious whether Challenge Missions live up to Microsoft’s stated aims. I can’t count how many strategy game tutorials I’ve played that taught me how to move the camera or a character, but never bothered to explain why certain technologies might matter early on, what build orders might be good to start with, and so on. So often, people lose interest in strategy games because proficiency seems unattainable, and it seems unattainable because it’s poorly explained. ![]() Like Mortal Kombat 11‘s character-specific tutorials, these Challenge Missions seem like a great step at removing traditional genre barriers. More important perhaps is a series of what Forgotten Empires calls “Challenge Missions.” Despite the name, it’s actually meant to teach people to be better Age of Empires II players, not scare them off. I’m not equipped to judge that, as I’m a fairly middling (but enthusiastic) Age of Empires II player. Forgotten Empires claims it’s improved the AI on the hardest difficulty, programming it to use tactics that are common in high-level Age of Empires II play-and without cheating, unlike the old AI. Different sure, and some might prefer the classic experience, but personally I’m looking forward to removing some of the busywork and focusing on tactics and army composition and the more big-picture ideas instead of worrying when I hear the shk-shk-shk of a farm gone fallow.Īnd there are some larger changes, albeit in specific and self-contained circumstances. As I said, it sounds like you can either disable many of these features or opt to not use them-but why? A lot of these ideas became standard shortly after Age of Empires II released, and it’s not a better game for their absence. These are small changes, but in aggregate they make for a smarter and less finicky game. ![]() ![]() ![]() You are not alone, as a lot of people share this problem with you.īut, do not worry as you can resolve this easily.
